Grief is a universal experience, and support makes all the difference

Founded in Los Angeles and expanded to New York City in 2025, Our House has provided grief support, education, and resources to children, teens, and adults for over 30 years.

With over 100,000 individuals served, we’ve become a leading resource for the community. Our evidence-based programs recognize the diverse ways people grieve, ensuring meaningful support.

Support after a death

Grief does not need to be fixed or cured. Our House offers understanding, community, and steady support for learning how to live with grief.

“Before Our House, grief felt confusing and isolating - I was navigating life without my brother and didn’t know anyone who’d lost a sibling. Through Our House, I found others who truly understood, and that connection was deeply healing.”

After a Death: Support for Schools & Workplaces

When a workplace or school community experiences a death, we provide on-site support and education to help the community process loss and care for each other.

Be there for someone when they need it most

Support grieving children, teens, or adults by becoming a trained volunteer group leader.

Our volunteer program includes training, ongoing supervision by our staff team, and the opportunity to co-lead a peer support group. With just 10+ hours per month, you can help create a space for healing and connection.

This role may be a fit for you if you are compassionate, kind and a good listener. No prior experience needed. We have two tracks: one to become a volunteer group leader for adults and one to become a volunteer group leader for children and teens.

Families grieve together and separately. We offer parallel groups where adults and children process loss in age-appropriate spaces, then reconnect to support each other through what comes next.

School Based Support

Partnering with schools, workplaces, and hospitals to bring grief support where it's needed

In the wake of the pandemic, at least three key New York City grief programs have closed or dramatically scaled back, leaving thousands with nowhere to turn. In response to this growing need, Our House NYC opened its doors in late October 2025 as the city’s only free-standing grief support center.

Help sustain grief support in New York City. The need for grief support has never been greater. Your donation ensures that children, teens, and adults receive the care they deserve. Every gift—big or small—makes a difference.
