Accessibility
This site should work for everyone.

We built this site to be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboards, or larger text.
Statement updated September 11, 2026
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across this site, and we treat accessibility as part of every change we make.
What we've built in
- Every page can be navigated by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a skip-to-content link.
- Color combinations meet WCAG AA contrast standards, and text can be resized to 200% without breaking the layout.
- All meaningful images have text descriptions; decorative artwork is skipped by screen readers.
- Animation and moving video respect your device's "reduce motion" setting.
- Pages use clear headings and landmarks so screen-reader users can move around easily.
Known limitations
Our support and inquiry forms, donation checkout, and video player are provided by outside services (Fillout, Qgiv, and YouTube). We chose providers that take accessibility seriously, but their pages may differ from ours. If any of them gives you trouble, contact us and we'll help you directly. You can always reach us by phone or email instead of a form.
Tell us if something isn't working
If any part of this site is hard for you to use, we want to know. Email info@ourhousenyc.org or call (646) 337-1787 and we'll do our best to fix the problem promptly.
